The Pasadena area is home to several excellent institutions of higher learning. That's why it's an ideal place to pursue a Master of Business Administration, or MBA. For example, you could attend a school like Pepperdine University if you're interested in getting your MBA in the Pasadena area. However, before you can get started at the program of your choice, you may first need to take and perform well on a standardized admissions test like the GMAT. The GMAT is a challenging exam that can be difficult to prepare for without any additional guidance. That's where Veritas Prep comes in. We'd be happy to help you get ready to take the GMAT with a Pasadena GMAT course or other test preparation supplement. To learn more about this exam and how we can help you study for it, read on.

Why take the GMAT?

The GMAT, or Graduate Management Admission Test, is most commonly associated with the pursuit of an MBA. Applicants to graduate programs in business usually take the GMAT as a part of their admissions process. Some schools may require a GMAT score in order to consider your application. If you earn a strong score on this exam, then you could have a better chance of admission at the schools you're most interested in attending. This is because business schools value an applicant's GMAT score, which gives admissions boards a better understanding of how an applicant would fare in a business school environment.

In that sense, you will be taking the GMAT because you must and because you need to show the schools you apply to how well you might perform. Whatever your reasons are for taking this exam, it's important to prepare for it to the best of your abilities. Veritas Prep can help you find a Pasadena GMAT prep course or another studying option. The following section will provide a closer look at what you need to know before taking the GMAT.

What's on the GMAT?

The GMAT is challenging because of how comprehensive it is. You'll be asked to complete four test sections, which each focus on a different set of academic skills you'll need to be successful in business school. These test sections are timed and you may need to move quickly in order to answer all of the questions you're asked within the section's time limit. The GMAT's four sections are called Quantitative Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, Analytical Writing, and Verbal Reasoning.

The first section, Analytical Writing, is unique in that it doesn't feature any multiple-choice questions. Instead, you'll be given a prompt and then asked to write an essay about that prompt. You'll only have 30 minutes to do this so it's important to practice addressing complex questions efficiently in the lead up to your test day. Your essay response will be graded based on the strength of the arguments you present, the quality of your writing, and more. Veritas Prep can provide you with guidance so that you can efficiently craft a compelling essay for this test section.

Next, you'll also need to complete the GMAT's Quantitative Reasoning section. This part of the exam features 31 multiple-choice questions on a variety of topics. You'll be given 62 minutes to answer these questions and then will have your responses graded on a 0 to 60 point scale. Some of the skills that you'll want to develop for this part of the exam are logical reasoning, problem-solving with math, and working with complex data. Again, you can get help developing these skills when you sign up for a Pasadena GMAT course or other studying option from Veritas Prep.

The next part of the GMAT focuses on the topic of Verbal Reasoning. Here, you'll need to prove your abilities in things like reading comprehension, sentence correction, and critical reasoning. This part of the exam also features multiple-choice questions and a 0 to 60 point grading scale. Finally, the last part of the GMAT focuses on Integrated Reasoning. This part of the exam is graded on a 1 to 8 point scale. You'll be asked to answer 12 questions within a 30-minute time limit. Some of the skills that you'll be tested on include graphics interpretation, table analysis, and multi-source reasoning.

The GMAT is challenging because you'll need to be able to work efficiently through a wide range of complex material. Consider taking a Pasadena GMAT course or other prep option if you'd like help getting ready for your upcoming exam. Sara was great
She was very caring about the student's scores, she took the time to answer questions, and gave excellent overviews on the exam. I could not have had a better experience.

Sarah is such a great instructor
I think Sarah is such a great instructor and person. She genuinely cared about our preparation for the test and our post graduate school aspirations. I had to drive every weekend from Santa Barbara but I knew it would be worth it because Sarah never disappointed .

Created a great atmosphere for learning
Sara Boem was great. She cares about student's progress and would always make herself available if students had any concerns/issues outside of the night of class itself. All I can say is that she is very intelligent, created a great atmosphere for learning, and she is a great human being. I will recommend her to my friends and colleagues.

Education: BA, Brigham Young University | MBA, Brigham Young University | Doctoral coursework, University of Utah
Aaron Pond truly loves connecting with his students who count on Aaron to be a mentor, a friend, and a resource throughout the entire MBA application process. While the GMAT isn’t rocket science, Aaron could do that as well after receiving his undergraduate degree in Astrophysics from BYU. Since then, Aaron graduated first in his MBA cohort (also from BYU), and finished his doctoral coursework in Educational Leadership at the University of Utah. Aaron’s engaging teaching style and creative methodologies help students look at questions from a totally different perspective, turning horrendous problems into simple, 20-second solutions.
Even though Aaron has read all of the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings books in German (which seems like one of those “genius-y” type of things), Aaron likes to say, The major work of the world is not done by geniuses. It is done by ordinary people, with balance in their lives, who have learned to work in an extraordinary manner. (Gordon B. Hinckley) As Aaron explains, “It is not just super-geniuses who ace the GMAT. It takes a balanced, calculated approach and it certainly takes work, but anybody can drastically improve their score.”

Aaron was a great teacher.
Aaron was a great teacher. He knows great techniques that  will help you improve your GMAT score. Thanks to Veritas Prep and Aaron, I'm a second year MBA student at one of the nation’s top MBA programs  and already have a full time job offer for when I finish my second year. I recommend Veritas Prep and Aaron to all my friends.

I really could feel like he cared about each student
My teacher Aaron went out of his way and put in extra time and effort to make sure all my questions were answered. He took time in each class to make sure each student understood the concepts clearly and still moved at an appropriate pace.  I really could feel like he cared about each student, not just his contract with Veritas Prep.

I haven't seen an instructor as well prepared as he is.
Our instructor Aaron Pond is a great guy always concerned with each student in our individual needs. I haven't seen an instructor as well prepared as he is.
