The GMAT is administered by the Graduate Management Admission Council and represents one of the most significant hurdles you'll face as you bring your undergraduate years to a conclusion. The exam consists of four sections that assess your competency in the types of skills that you'll rely on in the business world, and your score shows business schools how you might perform in the classroom. Your GMAT score is one of the primary criteria that graduate schools like the Carlson School of Management will take into account when considering your application for admission, so it's critical that you put your best foot forward. A Minneapolis GMAT course can help you get prepared.

If you're looking into different types of review help, a GMAT prep course can give you an edge over other students who are reviewing for the GMAT on their own. If you choose to take part in this type of assistance, you'll receive the expertise of instructors who are well-versed in the content and format of the test. This means that GMAT review taken through Veritas Prep won't just help you with the academic side of the exam, but also the real-life experience that you'll encounter on test day.

What does the GMAT cover?

The GMAT has four sections: the Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Verbal Reasoning. The test is given over the course of approximately 3.5 hours, not including breaks. With such a broad range of subjects and skills you'll need to master, seeking out a Minneapolis GMAT class is likely at the top of your priority list. Let's break down the test, section by section.

The Analytical Writing Assessment allows 30 minutes for you to analyze and critique one given argument. This section measures your abilities in critical thinking and written English communication. Though the argument provided may not be business-related, you won't have to have any special knowledge in the essay topic that's provided. Your score in this section is based solely on the strength of your skills in analyzing the reasoning behind the given argument.

A GMAT prep course can help you if you're feeling as if you could use some additional support in evaluating arguments, planning responses, organization and development of your ideas, or ability to provide examples or reasons supporting your evaluation. These skills are absolutely not exclusive to the GMAT; in fact, these skills will help you throughout your MBA program and beyond.

The Integrated Reasoning section asks you to solve complicated problems by integrating the provided data. You are given 30 minutes to complete 12 questions, and the majority of these questions require more than one response. There are four different types of questions in the Integrated Reasoning section: multi-source reasoning, table analysis, graphics interpretation, and two-part analysis. These questions call on a variety of skills that business schools find desirable in applicants, and your score on this section will act as an indicator of your ability to use data to make solid and knowledgeable decisions.

This section evaluates several different types of skills, like synthesizing information that's provided through different formats, evaluating different sources for relevant information, data organization and comparison, and problem-solving through integrating information from multiple sources. Though many of these ideas seem intuitive, a GMAT prep course might help you refine and streamline your process. This can be a great help, particularly with so many different types of questions.

Next, you'll face the Quantitative Reasoning section. This section measures your skills in mathematical reasoning, quantitative problem solving, and graphic data interpretation. There are 31 multiple-choice questions, and you will be given 62 minutes to complete them.

The Quantitative Reasoning section will present you with two different types of questions: problem-solving and data sufficiency. The problem-solving questions tell business schools how well you can use logic and analytical reasoning, and the data sufficiency questions measure your abilities in analyzing a problem, recognizing relevant data, and determining whether you have been given enough data to solve the problem. The help you could get in a Minneapolis GMAT prep course or Minneapolis GMAT class could have a great influence on your ability to solve these types of problems more quickly and with greater accuracy.

Finally, you will be presented with the Verbal Reasoning section. There are 36 multiple-choice questions given over the course of 65 minutes, and there are three different types of questions. Reading comprehension questions measure your ability to understand, interpret, and infer ideas from a given passage. Critical reasoning questions also incorporate a passage for you to read, but the questions that are given measure your skills in formulating and evaluating arguments or plans of action relating to the passage. GMAT prep can help you bone up on these skills so that you feel ready to tackle all of the question types presented to you here.

What are the benefits of different types of Minneapolis GMAT prep?

Veritas Prep gives you several different types of GMAT review options to choose from, including Live Classes, Courses, and Tutoring. Each type of review has its own unique benefits and process, but the end goal is always the same: helping you achieve your personal best score. Let's take an in-depth look at how each type of GMAT review could help you prepare for the big day.

Live Classes are online classes that incorporate 36 hours of Minneapolis GMAT class instruction given over the course of six weeks. They're conducted just like a typical classroom-based Minneapolis GMAT class, with lectures, discussions, and other activities your instructor may choose to incorporate. Live Classes mean you'll be able to interact with your instructor and fellow classmates in the moment, so you can be sure that you're on the right track when it comes to your GMAT review. There are multiple sessions to choose from, so you can find a Live Class that works with your schedule. Plus, every Live Class is taught by an instructor who's scored within the 99th percentile on the GMAT, so you can feel confident, knowing your instructor's got the experience you need to do your best on exam day.

Minneapolis GMAT Courses are on-demand, interactive lessons that you can access at any time. Minneapolis GMAT Courses include a diagnostic test, meaning that you can get a baseline for your knowledge or measure your progress anytime you choose. The lessons in each Minneapolis GMAT Course are interactive, too. Though you get to choose the pacing and timing of your Minneapolis GMAT Course, there is live instructor help available on a regular basis. This means that if a particular concept is giving you trouble, you can ask your questions to an instructor who's able to give you personal guidance through any tricky areas.

You can also choose to work with a GMAT tutor online anytime. With a variety of packages available, you can get the personalized attention you need as you prepare for the test. Whether you just want to focus on Quantitative Reasoning or you'd like to do a comprehensive review, your tutor can help you focus on just the concepts that are relevant to you. Plus, every Tutoring package includes either a Minneapolis GMAT Course or a Live Class, so you can also take advantage of the benefits of those GMAT prep resources as well.

Aaron Pond truly loves connecting with his students who count on Aaron to be a mentor, a friend, and a resource throughout the entire MBA application process. While the GMAT isn’t rocket science, Aaron could do that as well after receiving his undergraduate degree in Astrophysics from BYU. Since then, Aaron graduated first in his MBA cohort (also from BYU), and finished his doctoral coursework in Educational Leadership at the University of Utah. Aaron’s engaging teaching style and creative methodologies help students look at questions from a totally different perspective, turning horrendous problems into simple, 20-second solutions.

Even though Aaron has read all of the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings books in German (which seems like one of those “genius-y” type of things), Aaron likes to say, The major work of the world is not done by geniuses. It is done by ordinary people, with balance in their lives, who have learned to work in an extraordinary manner. (Gordon B. Hinckley) As Aaron explains, “It is not just super-geniuses who ace the GMAT. It takes a balanced, calculated approach and it certainly takes work, but anybody can drastically improve their score.”

Aaron was a great teacher.
Aaron was a great teacher. He knows great techniques that  will help you improve your GMAT score. Thanks to Veritas Prep and Aaron, I'm a second year MBA student at one of the nation’s top MBA programs  and already have a full time job offer for when I finish my second year. I recommend Veritas Prep and Aaron to all my friends.

I really could feel like he cared about each student
My teacher Aaron went out of his way and put in extra time and effort to make sure all my questions were answered. He took time in each class to make sure each student understood the concepts clearly and still moved at an appropriate pace.  I really could feel like he cared about each student, not just his contract with Veritas Prep.

I haven't seen an instructor as well prepared as he is.
Our instructor Aaron Pond is a great guy always concerned with each student in our individual needs. I haven't seen an instructor as well prepared as he is.

Anthony Ritz: he’s really, really skilled at chess (he’s a U.S. Chess Federation-rated Expert), so unless you have some serious Gambit Game, we’d recommend you avoid facing him on the chessboard, and instead, take advantage of his exceptional math mind.  A native of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and a graduate of Georgia Tech and Georgetown Law, Anthony’s passionate about getting his students to the GMAT score they want.

“It’s great to be able to show people that math on the GMAT isn’t really about grinding harder or being a genius. It’s about understanding what’s really important and then combining that realization with a skill set that every prospective MBA student is capable of possessing. It’s exciting stuff!”

Anthony’s track record speaks for itself (he’s helped students lift their scores by as much as 230 points), and honestly -- he’s just a great guy.  But again, for the sake of your own self-esteem, ask him about his cats, talk to him about the Braves… but if you’re killing time with him between lessons, avoid the chessboard.

Anthony is a fantastic teacher!
Anthony is a fantastic teacher! He is not only great at getting the concepts across, but also changing the way you think about numbers and logic in general.  He changed the way I will add, subtract, and multiply for the rest of my life! You can tell by the way he talks and teaches that he genuinely cares about his students and our success.

He always went above and beyond
My instructor, Anthony Ritz, was absolutely amazing. He is very knowledgeable on the test material and takes pride in making sure each class member understands each problem type. He has an endless book of tricks that he is able to articulate in a very easy to remember way. I emailed and instant messaged him many times during the week, outside of class, and he was always quick to respond with multiple ways to look at problems that were confusing me. He always went above and beyond to ensure that everyone was clear on what was going to be tested. He always offered to stay late to review any additional problems that may be confusing.

You never feel like your time is being wasted.
I took a 6 week GMAT course with Anthony Ritz and was so impressed by the professionalism of Veritas instructors. Anthony is one of those super-humans, who received perfect scores on every standardized test from the LSAT to the GMAT to the GRE. My past experience with SAT tutors was to stay away from the wiz kids because they didn't know how to teach/translate their genius, but Anthony does. His lessons were content rich, but contained added bonuses like calculation shortcuts and tricks to approaching problems. Anthony edited many of the Veritas books, so his familiarity with them is impressive. He knows exactly which problems are most challenging so he cherry picks the best examples to work through in class. You never feel like your time is being wasted.

After receiving her degree in Physiology from the University of Washington, Erika took what she thought would be a short-term position teaching at a private tutoring academy while she finished her grad school applications. Several years and many score reports later, she was directing the academy, developing all new curricula for a wealth of standardized tests, and loving every minute of it. When an opportunity arose to write test content for an edtech company in Boston, Massachusetts, she bade the Pacific Northwest farewell and took a harrowing cross-country plane ride with her two very unhappy cats (for concerned readers, they have since forgiven her).

Since arriving in the Northeast, Erika has contributed to writing and editing thousands of GMAT and GRE questions and explanations, hundreds of lessons, and a growing number of instructional YouTube videos. She uses her experience being a testmaker to teach her students how to truly think like one — a process that not only yields impressive score improvements, but also empowers students to develop long-lasting critical thinking habits.

In her spare time, Erika enjoys making the most of her tiny kitchen and scoping out new taco joints. She still hasn’t finished a single grad school application, but at this point, she’d much rather help you with yours!
