Anthony Ritz: he’s really, really skilled at chess (he’s a U.S. Chess Federation-rated Expert), so unless you have some serious Gambit Game, we’d recommend you avoid facing him on the chessboard, and instead, take advantage of his exceptional math mind.  A native of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and a graduate of Georgia Tech and Georgetown Law, Anthony’s passionate about getting his students to the GMAT score they want.

“It’s great to be able to show people that math on the GMAT isn’t really about grinding harder or being a genius. It’s about understanding what’s really important and then combining that realization with a skill set that every prospective MBA student is capable of possessing. It’s exciting stuff!”

Anthony’s track record speaks for itself (he’s helped students lift their scores by as much as 230 points), and honestly -- he’s just a great guy.  But again, for the sake of your own self-esteem, ask him about his cats, talk to him about the Braves… but if you’re killing time with him between lessons, avoid the chessboard.

Anthony is a fantastic teacher!
Anthony is a fantastic teacher! He is not only great at getting the concepts across, but also changing the way you think about numbers and logic in general.  He changed the way I will add, subtract, and multiply for the rest of my life! You can tell by the way he talks and teaches that he genuinely cares about his students and our success.

He always went above and beyond
My instructor, Anthony Ritz, was absolutely amazing. He is very knowledgeable on the test material and takes pride in making sure each class member understands each problem type. He has an endless book of tricks that he is able to articulate in a very easy to remember way. I emailed and instant messaged him many times during the week, outside of class, and he was always quick to respond with multiple ways to look at problems that were confusing me. He always went above and beyond to ensure that everyone was clear on what was going to be tested. He always offered to stay late to review any additional problems that may be confusing.

You never feel like your time is being wasted.
I took a 6 week GMAT course with Anthony Ritz and was so impressed by the professionalism of Veritas instructors. Anthony is one of those super-humans, who received perfect scores on every standardized test from the LSAT to the GMAT to the GRE. My past experience with SAT tutors was to stay away from the wiz kids because they didn't know how to teach/translate their genius, but Anthony does. His lessons were content rich, but contained added bonuses like calculation shortcuts and tricks to approaching problems. Anthony edited many of the Veritas books, so his familiarity with them is impressive. He knows exactly which problems are most challenging so he cherry picks the best examples to work through in class. You never feel like your time is being wasted.

David Newland sees himself not simply as someone conveying information and content but as a coach as well. As he explains, “The students that I work with need more than knowledge, they need to be able to perform to the best of their abilities on test day and it is my pleasure to help them do it!” As a competitor both in athletics and debate his whole life, he could choose to focus on his own successes of which he’s had many, but David finds a greater pride and joy in learning of the triumphs of his students. He truly relishes hearing from students he’s worked with that they have gotten their goal score or into their dream program. So if you’re fortunate enough to work with David, please be sure to let him know when the same happens for you.

Despite all the accomplishments, David did suffered one somewhat traumatic blow early in life. “I put together a song and dance number for the third-grade school talent show and the music teacher required me to lip synch so that no one would have to hear me sing. My dreams of a music career were shattered.”

Born and raised in Independence, Missouri, David earned his JD from Michigan and MA and BA from Truman University and now enjoys living in the beauty of Vermont. In fact, inspired by the Green Mountain state’s quiet, open roads, he’s now considering getting a motorcycle so that he can drive very slowly on the deserted roads of the early mornings. Might just be a great chance to sing out loud as you go, David.

Could I have scored 700+ without David? Probably not
I paid for 28 hours of online tutoring with Veritas Prep. I was assigned David Newland as my instructor. It was the best money I could have spent. Within six weeks of working with David, I scored 770 and 760 on the GMAT Prep Software PP1 and PP2 tests. On the real exam I scored 700 (90%), comprising Quant 47 (73%) and Verbal 39 (88%). The drop between the PP tests and the real test was mostly due to nerves and bad time management on the day. Could I have scored 700+ without David? Probably not given I only had six weeks to prepare. David was excellent. With 8+ years of GMAT experience he knows how to solve every question the test can throw at you. He explained methodology in a clear and easy to apply fashion. He was also flexible and we could frequently schedule sessions on short notice.

This guy is smart and really knows the GMAT inside and out
Got so lucky to get David Newland as my instructor. I went into the course more confident in quant, and David is a verbal expert, specifically in Critical Reasoning. This guy is smart and really knows the GMAT inside and out, which was helpful since I had never taken the exam before. I could hear his voice inside my head as I did practice problems and during the actual GMAT.

David was excellent.
The instructor David was excellent. I found that he took the time to explain each section properly and in easy to understand language. I very much enjoyed this course and would recommend it to any one with a very hectic schedule.

As the adage goes, “practice doesn’t make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect.” Hailey Cusimano has had the opportunity to apply this (and many other cliché sayings) to both the sports and GMAT world, ensuring her students are applying the necessary strategies to make their preparation effective and efficient. Hailey emphasizes a strategy-driven approach to GMAT preparation, centered on the idea that every student’s learning style is different. With this approach, she has been able to coach hundreds of students around the world to success on the GMAT with study techniques, strategies, and content reinforcement processes that build critical-thinking skills and allow students to tackle even the toughest questions the GMAT has to offer. When Hailey is not making a difference in her students’ GMAT studies, she can often be found making a difference in the nonprofit world – helping orphaned and abandoned wildlife at one of the animal sanctuaries or refuges she volunteers her time with as she works toward a nonprofit of her own.

I cannot thank Hailey enough
After a terrible night of sleep in anticipation of my second go at the GMAT, I scored a 720!  I cannot thank Hailey enough for her patience, guidance, support, instruction, and advice.  There's a zero chance I could have achieved this score without her.

Hailey was a fantastic tutor.
She has an extremely high level of expertise in GMAT math and was able to explain many of the problems in multiple ways until I really understood the concepts. I improved my Quant score by 9 points (38 to 47) and got a 730 overall (47 Q 44V). Could not have gotten my Quant in order nearly as fast or nearly as efficiently without Hailey's help.

Beyond comparison
There may be someone out there in the world who knows more about and cares more about the GMAT (and her students' performance on it) than Hailey.  There's no question she can't answer, no explanation she can't make click, and no topic she doesn't seem to genuinely enjoy teaching.

Jeff Yin loves helping his students develop skills that they can use to benefit themselves and others for the rest of their lives. He sees the preparation for the GMAT as a gateway to your future. On top of that, developing higher-order thinking skills will enable you to be more effective in life, no matter what you choose to do. Jeff so enjoys what he does so much, that if he was not teaching GMAT prep, he would most likely be a career coach helping people to find their path in life.

Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, this Harvard graduate and Ph.D. scientist is a pretty easy going guy - as long as he has access to bean and guacamole burritos. When he was 10 years old, he idolized Carl Sagan and wanted to be an astronomer just like him. We think he’s done alright with the direction that he chose!

Education: BA, Brigham Young University | MBA, Brigham Young University | Doctoral coursework, University of Utah
Aaron Pond truly loves connecting with his students who count on Aaron to be a mentor, a friend, and a resource throughout the entire MBA application process. While the GMAT isn’t rocket science, Aaron could do that as well after receiving his undergraduate degree in Astrophysics from BYU. Since then, Aaron graduated first in his MBA cohort (also from BYU), and finished his doctoral coursework in Educational Leadership at the University of Utah. Aaron’s engaging teaching style and creative methodologies help students look at questions from a totally different perspective, turning horrendous problems into simple, 20-second solutions.

Even though Aaron has read all of the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings books in German (which seems like one of those “genius-y” type of things), Aaron likes to say, The major work of the world is not done by geniuses. It is done by ordinary people, with balance in their lives, who have learned to work in an extraordinary manner. (Gordon B. Hinckley) As Aaron explains, “It is not just super-geniuses who ace the GMAT. It takes a balanced, calculated approach and it certainly takes work, but anybody can drastically improve their score.”

Aaron was a great teacher.
Aaron was a great teacher. He knows great techniques that  will help you improve your GMAT score. Thanks to Veritas Prep and Aaron, I'm a second year MBA student at one of the nation’s top MBA programs  and already have a full time job offer for when I finish my second year. I recommend Veritas Prep and Aaron to all my friends.

I really could feel like he cared about each student
My teacher Aaron went out of his way and put in extra time and effort to make sure all my questions were answered. He took time in each class to make sure each student understood the concepts clearly and still moved at an appropriate pace.  I really could feel like he cared about each student, not just his contract with Veritas Prep.

I haven't seen an instructor as well prepared as he is.
Our instructor Aaron Pond is a great guy always concerned with each student in our individual needs. I haven't seen an instructor as well prepared as he is.

Brian launches into a monologue explaining why the Curb Your Enthusiasm comedian would do well on standardized tests: “The way he notices little things, fixates on them, and won’t let them go. He’d be a master of GMAT Data Sufficiency or GRE Quantitative Comparison. 'Why is this word problem about bags of sugar and not just sugar? Why wouldn’t they just say sugar? Why the bags? Ohh - it has to be an integer. Got you, Testmaker. Pretty, pretty, pretty good trick you tried to get me with.’”

The University of Michigan graduate received his Master’s in Education and has studied the GMAT full-time since 2006, when he joined Veritas Prep as the Director of Academic Programs (he’s since stepped up to Chief Academic Officer).  As someone who competes as an Ironman and also occasionally takes the stage as a stand-up comedian, Brian does bring an energetic, entertaining, and extremely effective style to his teaching. And he’s probably one of the few people (ever) to have scored a 99th percentile GMAT score and have his own NBA Championship ring. To quote a past student of Brian’s: “Brian was a real pro and it was easy to see that he really cared about the quality and usefulness of the class.  The materials he passed out were very structured and succinct. Everything he went over had a purpose, so you really get value in the time you invest.”

Brian Galvin is AMAZING; knows his material in and out
Can I say amazing? Of course, I had the honor of being taught by Brian Galvin and Matt Douglas. I say honor, because Brian Galvin is AMAZING; knows his material in and out, has clear cut methodologies of explaining them (even to idiots like me), engaging enough that I didn't fizzle out through the 9 hr session, but also didn't pace too quickly or too slowly. While grueling and jam-packed with info, it was probably the best investment I've made thus far in this whole graduate school process. The take-aways from the class were so valuable and added another dimension to the weekly Veritas course I'm taking.  I highly recommend the 2 day boot camp, but more so recommend taking the course specifically with Brian Galvin.

He's patient and just really good at his job.
Brian is wonderful. Some people do this just for money, Brian is genuinely interested in the success of his students. He's patient and just really good at his job. Brian is super smart, patient, will address each person's concerns and make sure we are always comfortable before moving on. It's a course 7-10pm after a long day of work, he makes the experience as pleasant as possible. He's also very sociable, talks to us before class or during break. You can tell he's a seasoned teacher and really enjoys teaching.

He is no ordinary tutor
That's where Brian Galvin comes in. He is no ordinary tutor :) . He is the Jesus of the GMATland. The son sent over to save the millions of test takers who are up against the test.

BA, University of Washington
After receiving her degree in Physiology from the University of Washington, Erika took what she thought would be a short-term position teaching at a private tutoring academy while she finished her grad school applications. Several years and many score reports later, she was directing the academy, developing all new curricula for a wealth of standardized tests, and loving every minute of it. When an opportunity arose to write test content for an edtech company in Boston, Massachusetts, she bade the Pacific Northwest farewell and took a harrowing cross-country plane ride with her two very unhappy cats (for concerned readers, they have since forgiven her).

Since arriving in the Northeast, Erika has contributed to writing and editing thousands of GMAT and GRE questions and explanations, hundreds of lessons, and a growing number of instructional YouTube videos. She uses her experience being a testmaker to teach her students how to truly think like one — a process that not only yields impressive score improvements, but also empowers students to develop long-lasting critical thinking habits.

In her spare time, Erika enjoys making the most of her tiny kitchen and scoping out new taco joints. She still hasn’t finished a single grad school application, but at this point, she’d much rather help you with yours!
