What is your favorite quote?
Experience is the thing you get a few minutes after you needed it.  That applies to many walks of life, obviously, but I find it works especially well for timed standardized exams.  We almost always walk out of there thinking about something that we wished we had thought of during the exam.  Our job is to prepare for those moments ahead of time, so you're not leaving any points on the table.  It's not just about memorizing formulas, but more about being able to recognize patterns and understand what the question is really asking.  Good preparation – getting the experience beforehand – helps students stay calm and do as well as they can on test day.

If you weren't teaching the GMAT, what would you be teaching instead?
Definitely finance.  I have taught finance a lot over the years, both as a job and informally to my friends and family.  The GMAT covers a lot of the same ground – sure, a fluency with numbers will help you do well, but you also need to able to think clearly and logically about the task at hand.

He is an awesome professor
If you can have Chester be your instructor for the face-to-face classes, you should do it.  He is an awesome professor and I improved exactly 200 points in the Veritas Practice Exams. He contacted us every week via email to see how we were doing. He was there for us almost 24/7!

Chester is an exceptional teacher.
Chester is an exceptional teacher. First of all, he's extremely intelligent. Second of all, he's a super-efficient problem-solver, always seeking to find both the fastest and simplest route to each problem, full stop. And the cherry on top is that he makes it all fun - because he himself loves the thrill of a good challenge and would never back away. I highly recommend Chester.

Chester is simply the best
Chester is simply the best. He makes a 3 hour class enjoyable, but still gets the job done. He always comes in early in case we have any questions, and he always makes sure we know we can count on him for help. I'd take the course all over again if I had to.

What do you love about teaching?
I love to make students feel confident. Above all else, I view the GMAT as a logic exam. It is not about memorizing tons of details, but about reasoning through problems. So often students come in fearing the GMAT, particularly if they have had bad experiences with it in the past. My greatest joy comes when my students realize that common sense, the reasoning they do every day in their jobs or personal life, can be applied to this test. I want my students to know that the GMAT is not a spectacular mountain or a road block. It is a game that they are quite capable of playing. Everyone has weaknesses, even instructors. There will always be areas where a person is weaker, but there are also numerous strategies to overcome such obstacles - whether it means improving weaknesses, or strengthening strengths, there is a way to get better. I believe that having the right attitude is so much of what this exam is about. And I love that the path to a great score can be a life lesson as well.

If you weren't teaching the GMAT, what would you be teaching instead?
Actually, I love teaching so much that I also teach the LSAT, as well as business law and ethics at a local university.
