I (subject) vs me (object)
I have come across something like this
in one of the blue books,and was wondering if the GMAT people would
approve of these phrases:
1.
This game I really bought for my wife and I to play when we were away .
(my guess: incorrect)
2.
This is a great notebook I bought for my wife and I to use when we travel
(my guess: incorrect)
With regards to the statement 1., it's acceptable to say "me" in everyday speak, and
I'd think on the GMAT as well, and also, it seems wrong to start off the sentence with "this game," which is an object. So, if corrected should it be: I really bought this game for my wife and me to play when we are away?
Finally, is it okay to leave out the article "that" in the statement 2?
It's not necessary when you say, "This is a job I had last year," though, in my opinion,
this statement needs it because of the "great" that modifies the object, "notebook."
