What is the best way to perform the following calculations? These are taken from Q68 and Q69 in book 2.

Q68: x=119/17
Q69: $30/$4.30

I get stuck at these kind of calculations that don't look straightforward to me..!

for 119/17

The best way for this one is to look at multiples of 17 ...

17 * 7 = 119, so 119/17 = 7

for $30/$4.30

move the decimal point: 3000/430 and do the long division

430 * 6 = 2580

3000 - 2580 = 420

so the answer is 6 420/430 ... very close to 7
