Hi,
I don't know if its only me, or more general, consistently i have to re-read the CR questions, espcially for the higher difficulty level questions. I tried to answer after first read, in that case my accuracy goes down badly. But if re-read the entire question and answer choices then my accuracy is very good. Because of this i am always struggling to have enough time to complete all the questions.

SC and RC questions I am able to do in 2 mins on average, although my accuracy goes down there too , but not as bad as CR questions. I am just not able to manage time well for CR questions. How can I increase my speed in CR questions?

Thanks,
PM

Hey PM,

Good question - and if you don't mind I may follow up with a couple questions of my own.

1) Have you thought at all about what you're not getting on your first read? I doubt that it's simply a matter of "two reads is better than one" - my guess is that you read through once and then focus on something more specific that second time that makes it click. If you can think of specifically what you're looking for on that first read, you can probably increase efficiency that way.

2) Are you reading the question stem first? That helps a lot with #1, as if you know that the question is:

Strengthen/Weaken - make sure you focus on the conclusion
Explain the Paradox - make sure that you focus on the paradox
Method/Mimic - make quick notes about the structure of the argument
Inference - plan to use "not necessarily true" as your standard for process of elimination

If you're reading the question stem first, that goes a long way toward making your first read more efficient.

3) Are you eliminating any answer choices before you read again? If so, you may be able to read faster that second time focusing on a quick refresh of what you know instead of trying to reread the entire thing.

I hope that helps...
