Hello,

I just completed the Math Essentials book. It mentions to take one of the practice test. Which practice test would be the best for me right now?

Hey Marlon,

Congratulations on finishing that lesson - that's a huge step forward to make sure that you can attack the math lessons week by week in class!

I'd recommend the GMATPrep Test #1 - it's the most representative question pool and scoring system out there, so you'll get an accurate feel for the test and the types of questions/content you'll see so that you know how to budget your study time and energy. You really can't go wrong with any tests at this stage of the game, but people do like seeing that official practice test up front so that you have that authentic beginning...

Very useful tip.
I am working on the Math essentials book right now. I had a question though.

After doing a couple of math questions, I sometimes found the answer by eliminating answer choices (like for example, question 23 of the math essentials diagnostic test). Is that ok to do when i am practicing or should i really try and find the answer the mathematical way?

thanks for your help..

In many cases, the most efficient way to get to an answer is by process of elimination, which is what you're describing. This is by no means a bad way to approach many problems.
That being said, it'd be a good idea to ALSO try to understand the math behind the problem, particularly in the early lessons like Math Essentials.
