Hi,

I sat the GMAT yesterday and did not score as highly as I had hoped. My understanding is that if I retake the test any school I apply to will look at the average of the two scores.

Given my score was 600 and I was aiming for upper 600/low 700 is there any point to retaking the test as to achieve the the scores I need I would need to achieve a score of 700 to a clearly unachievable 800?

Thanks

Yes, you're correct in believing that most schools will only look at your highest score. (They, after all, want a higher, rather than lower, average GMAT for entering students!)

Many students have made improvements to bring scores from 600 range to 700 range, and so, if you're willing to put in the effort, it certainly can be worth it, especially if this higher score is necessary for admission to your chosen schools.
