Could someone please explain to me how the GMATprep software works? I understand that they only offer two tests, but do these tests get updated at some point? Are the two tests that are available now the same two tests that have been available for the past several years?

As far as I can tell, the GMATprep tests have been the same since 2006. While that may seem somewhat ridiculous, the GMAT isn't a rapidly-changing exam. The Official Guide is updated regularly, but the content and difficulty of the questions doesn't really change. As a result, the two practice exams are still valid indicators of actual GMAT performance.

I see. Do you have any idea when they will be changed again?

At a guess, I would say that they probably won't make wholesale changes without a corresponding change to the GMAT: a new question type, different question breakdowns (more geometry or fewer arithmetic questions, for instance), etc.
