I've taken the 10 GMAT mocks as of now, the first time I took a mock, I scored around 320, and after that I started gradually increasing. Now I'm scoring around 650, the problem being that I just don't seem to cross that limit. So could you kindly suggest something as my exam date is nearing too(July 28th 2009). I need to score above 700. And also I've a genuine query, if I do score consistently around 700 in the mocks, will my score be the same(i.e; around 700) in the main GMAT exam conducted by Pearson Vue? Also, I'm facing difficulty in few areas, such as in Quants- Sets, Probability, Permutations and Combinations and in Verbal- Reading Comprehension- I tend to loose focus after two RC's, Sentence Correction- I'm getting around 10-12 questions correct out of 17-18(so I guess that's bad too), and Critical Reasoning - I'm getting around 10 correct out of 12-13. So, I kindly request you look into my matter, and also provide me with some inputs, I would be more than elated if you do so.

Thanking you,
Bharadwaj K.

First of all... 320 to 650 is an IMMENSE improvement (just look at the percentiles... that's an improvement from the 4th to the 82nd percentile!!!), so if that's what you end up with on the actual GMAT you should be REALLY happy!

That said, you still have plenty of time, so you should still be aiming to improve. Most people who have gotten into the high 600s have one of two problems: either they are particularly bad at a couple of key concepts, or they struggle with harder problems in general. You should narrow down which one describes you.

Since it sounds like you've already narrowed down your weak areas a bit, there's really no quick fix: simply do lots of problems that test that particular concept. There's an entire Veritas book on permutations, combinations, and probability, and another on reading comp. Also, make sure you do all of the reading comp passages from the Official Guides.

As for what score to expect on your real GMAT, most people tend to do about the same on the actual GMAT as they did on their most recent practice tests. So, if you're consistently scoring in the high 600s, I would bet that your actual GMAT score would be similar. However, I've had students who did much better or much worse on the real thing - there are lots of variables involved.

Congrats on the already amazing improvement, and good luck!

Firstly,Thank you Sir for the time you've devoted regarding my concerns. Now I would like to explain my profile to you. I'm just done with my graduation in the Engineering Stream and I've got a very low GPA (2.5), and also considering the fact that I've had no functional experience ( as in I'm a fresher), my profile isn't so great. So considering these factors, I've got to get an exceptional score (>720). I would be more than elated if you help me in achieving the score and also if you provide some guidance regarding the admissions and the B-Schools which consider freshers. Could I get a concrete list of the B-Schools which actually consider profiles like mine?

Thanking you Sir,
Bharadwaj K

I'm a GMAT expert, not an admissions expert... so you might want to post your question in the "Admissions Consulting" forum. The folks over there will be able to help you much more than I can.
