Hi,

I have joined the veritas online course and following the study plan. till now we have finished 4 books arguments, algebra, arithmetic and cr1. I wanted to know where this books stand in perspective of actual GMAT, i mean what is the ratio of hard questions to easy. I am targeting for 750+, so wanted to know what will be score one should get in from the given books to achieve the same in respective area.

Thanks

Hey Rupali,

Glad to hear that you're making such good progress through the course! A couple thoughts on your question:

1) Don't let the basic-sounding names fool you...I'd argue that many (if not most) of our hardest math problems come in the Arithmetic and Algebra books. There are some monsters in there.

2) Honestly, I wouldn't worry very much about difficulty level when you're practicing. Focus on what you can learn from the problems. For the most part you'll find that our questions range from average level difficulty to extremely difficult, but you'll also find that difficulty is typically in the eye of the beholder. Those who think about question difficulty on the GMAT tend to tell horror stories later about how they psyched themselves out because "I saw two straight really easy questions so I knew I bombed it and I freaked out..." when actually they were doing better than they thought. The key when studying is to embrace the lesson - find out what makes a question tricky to you, which mistakes you're likely to make, etc. so that you can better attack those on test day and improve upon them in practice. I'd much rather a student miss 50% of her homework questions but learn valuable lessons from almost all of those misses than have her get 90% of them right but be unprepared for that remaining 10% plus the 5% or so on which she just had a lucky guess.
