I'm taking the course online and on my own. I have just finished up lesson 0, math essentials. When do I need to take my first practice exam? And is this one from the GMAT simulator or some other?

Hi David,

We suggest that you complete one of our GMAT practice exams in your online TrueTrack account prior to your course, so that you can see roughly where your score stands & set your goal for improvement. One of the two “GMATPrep” exams are a good choice if you're working on a PC. Otherwise, you can choose any of the other 15 exams available. In addition, there is a "Recommended Testing Schedule" tool in your online account under "Practice Tests" that you can utilize to determine when you should take the rest of your practice tests throughout the remainder of your studies.

Do all these practices also include the essay portion and take the full 3.5 hours? Or only the verbal and math sections...?

All of the practice exams include the AWA essay portion, and are 3 hours in length.
