I graduated in a university which is not one of the top school in Turkey. My major is Business administration. My GPA is 3.45. It is in first ten out of those of 150 students. As soon as I graduated, I started to run my own business with my brother in furniture industry. We brought furniture from major furniture industrial cities to sell in my city. I deal with managing, marketing, financing, and so on. After running it for 4 years, I decided to do MBA because the thing that I want is to specialize in finance. Even though I succeed in it ending up 3 showroom with the total area of 2500m, and more than a million dollar sell in the last year, it is not the thing that I want. After I decide to do MBA, I took finance course in UC Berkeley Extension Program. My overall score was 3.35. Although my toefl score is around 100, my english is not very good actually. My GMAT scores in practice tests are around 700 with the score of 50 in quantitative part . I want to apply Stanford, UC Berkeley and UCLA. What is the opportunity for me to get in one of these school?

If your actual GMAT score is similar to your practice tests then you will have a rather strong profile. Since you ran your own business and have no track record of promotion then you will need to show what you learned and also communicate how successful the business was.

Also, keep in mind that different programs have different strengths and areas of concentration. Make sure that you look beyond rankings and identify MBA programs which best fit your goals and educational needs.

One of your biggest challenges will be the actual application package. You will need to communicate effectively in both essays and interviews. You will want to make sure that you clearly articulate your strengths, future goals, and reasons for pursuing an MBA. You may need to enlist the assistance of an individual who is proficient in English and also familiar with the MBA application process.
