I would be pleased if you could help me in evaluating my profile.

Profile:

Italian, 25 years old.
Undergraduate: Marketing G.P.A. 4 (Good university, but not belonging to top ones)
Postgraduate : Marketing G.P.A. 4 (Same as above)
GMAT : 620 Q45 V30 (want to retake, see below)
Toefl : 91

Specialization Certificate in International Marketing, Duration 400 hours: Mark 97/100
1 paper is being published on a regional journal "Small business" as a result of my thesis research.
First position in a national Marketing Competition: the realization of a Marketing Plan for Wind.
Organization of 1 seminar and 2 workshop (Firms Internazionalization, Micro-credit) while working at Aiesec during my studies.
Less than 4 months working experience: Sales department.

Objective: Business Schools, PhD

1) The school I wish to apply are: Hec Paris, Cass Business School, Bocconi, Ie business school. As I suppose my profile is not so strong, I'm avoiding thinking about LBS and Insead.
In addition, Although I'm aiming at an EU business schools, I greet advices and recommendation about US business schools to which my profile could be suitable, pointing out that I do not come from a rich family and, therefore, I might apply only to schools that provides grand-salary helping you to finance your studies. In relation to this last point, I have one doubt: in US will you be noticed whether or not you have been awarded of a grand-salary before getting enrolled in a programme or only after, as a result of your merit and accademic progresses? This makes a big difference for me.

GMAT - SoP - Research Proposal

I'm aware my GMAT score is quite low, but I was so unlike with the verbal section as I was scoring better during my simulations (34-38). Hence, I want to improve the verbal and the tot. score of at least 50 points (670-700).
If I were able to get this score what would you think about my profile?
What are the areas in which I could improve?
I read in other post that one way could be to do an outstanding SOP - Could you recommend me some books about it? Furthermore, is the SoP only related to your motivation or you should include your research interests?

Area of research

After writing my Msc dissertation, My research interests drifted from marketing to industrial organization topics, specifically on Industrial Districts and Networks, Firms-size, The role of Small business.
In what research area these interests drop: Organizational behaviour or Management?
Do you think my profile allows me to accomplish this passage?

Interview

Is it important to already have focused on a specific research area before getting enrolled in a PhD programme or it is more useful to build your interests during the 1year courses, which might stimulates and give you multiple ideas on what to do.

Sorry for my so long post............
Thankssssssssssss

Hello,

If I understand your message correctly, you're mainly interested in attending business school to earn a PhD? I do think you need a higher GMAT score to be competitive for PhD programs at schools in that range. If you could earn a GMAT score closer to 700, I would feel much better about your chances.

I'm not sure I understand your question re: the SoP. For advice on writing great MBA admissions essays in general, take a look at Your MBA Game Plan (my book), one of the most popular books on the subject:

Good luck!
