In your case, an alternate transcript could definitely strengthen your application - especially if you can earn A's in classes that are typically part of an MBA curriculum. You need a solid GMAT score in addition to your alternate transcript in order to be competitive. Additionally, you should use your optional essay to explain why your undergraduate GPA is so low (any mitigating circumstances, what you learned from the experience, etc). The schools you choose apply to depend upon your plans post graduation (since different programs have different strengths) as well as your geographic preferences.
