Now as for your profile, I wouldn't get too hung up on your GMAT. If you are in their 80% range, you need to now be focused on what about your story is going to stand out against other investment banker applicants. Typically, that's how b-schools look at you, as they want to diversify their student body and take a wide variety of students. They will always have about 20% or more of the incoming class hailing from the banking and finance industry, so you need to think about unique things about you that will differentiate you from someone else with a similar professional background. Since your GMAT is on the lower end and your academics and UG institution were not top of class, you will need to "make up for" these shortcomings in other ways, for example, in your career achievements, leadership experience or evidience of creative or innovative thinking. Perhaps you stand out with the community service you mentioned. Typically bankers work all the time, so your fellow banking applicants may not have any or much community service. This is the way you should be thinking about your application....how can you position yourself to rise above your "competition," that is others like you.
