Can someone from Veritas confirm if those following are typos?

1. SC 1, Q56, line #2:
isn't the word "though" suppose to be "through"? it should read as follows: "... breakthrough" not "breakthough"

2. SC 1, explanation to Q44, line #5:
where is the word "rising costs" coming from? question has nothing to do with cost. is this a typo?

Yes - these are both typos.
The first is a simple letter omission.
The latter is a situation where a former question's explanation hasn't been fully replaced by a later question's explanation.
Good catch on both of these!
