The question starts with ...In casual conversation, people experience little psychological discomfort......

The correct answer is D.

The conclusion is that, if someone admits a flaw, then he or she does not consider that flaw to be serious.

From the stimulus we know that people don't have a big problem with admitting a flaw if they don't consider the flaw to be serious.

I choice D were not true (people DON'T readily admit to the flaw) even when the admission causes little discomfort, the conclusion would not hold. (See page 156 of the text for further details.)
