A question I have comes from #10 on page 44 of the Critical Reasoning Book (#1), I can't understand why the answer to the question is "D" and not "C" - is it because of the fact that it would be mathematically impossible for the GDP % to be higher in Japan since it *increased *to 1.6%?

The question is an inference question, and I guess because of the fact that we're looking for the solution that is *absolutely *true, "D" would be the one - it just doesn't seem like that's what they were going with in the stimulus - is this something like a trap that I should be aware of?

There is not trap here. Take another look. This one is actually pretty

straight forward. The key here, since it is an inference question, it to
pick the choice that must be true.

This is a case where C is very likely to be true, but not necessarily true.
For instance, a country could spend wastefully and this would not be the

case.

D is true because the US never dropped below 2.2 and Japan never went above
1.6.
