What is the value of x^2-y^2?

1) x+y=2x
2) x+y=0

Then answer key says D) Each statement is sufficient. I get number 2) but how is statement 1) sufficient.

The answer key says that statement 1) implies that x-y=0. How does statement 1) imply this?

x+y=2x

subtract x from both sides

y = x

subtract y from both sides

0 = x - y
