Please explain question #47 from the Data Sufficiency (White Book). I don't understand why for statement 2) the number 12 would not be divisible by 3.

the answer for the question is E but i'm wondering why C is not the answer.

consider the numbers 30 and 12.

in both cases the digits add to three.

and both of the numbers are divisible by 3.

so, both statements together are not sufficient.
