 Post subject: Data Sufficiency, BOok VIII, pg 119, #95

Hello,

I understand why we don't have sufficient information and so the answer is E. however the answer at the back of the book states that 5 < x < 5.5 . Can you please explain how can we work out that x has to be greater than 5?

y + z = 12

but z > y, so y < 6 and z > 6

y + z = 12
y + x = 11

z - x = 1
z - 1 = z

z > 6

z - 1 > 6 - 1

z - 1 > 5 , but z - 1 = z

so x > 5
