A string of holiday lights has a repeating color pattern of green, white, red, blue, orange, yellow. If the first light of the string is gree and the last last light is red, then the number of lights could be:

A. 23
B. 30
C. 37
D. 45 ----> is chosen as the answer
E. 55

Why is 45 the answer and how did they arrive at that? Anyone?

Thx

First calculate the sequence to get from green to red, which is 3, then calculate how many lights go through a full sequence to get back to red which equals 6. y=3+6x

Just plug in numbers from there and see what matches. 3+6*7=45
