Can you please explain problem 36? I do not understand how they change the denominator.

.03 * (10^j)/(10^r)

3 * 10^(-2) * (10^j)/(10^r)

3 * 10^(-2) * 10^(j - r)

3 * 10^(j - r - 2)


3 * 10^6 = 3 * 10^(j - r - 2)

10^6 = 10^(j - r - 2)

6 = j - r - 2

8 = j - r
