x = 2*4*6* .... 48* 50

x = 2*1 * 2*2 * 2*3 * .... 2*24 * 2*25

x = (2^25)*1*2*3 * ... 24*25

so all numbers from 2 to 25 are factors of x, so they will not be factors of x+1

therefore, the smallest prime factor of x + 1 must be > 25

VH,

just to make sure I understood the point, given that all factors of x can't be factors of x + 1. If the question asked "what is the smalles FACTOR of x + 1" the answer would still be > 25, right?
