 Post subject: Geometry VI question 40

Illustration shows a rectangle with a, b, c and d corners/degrees. Note, angles c and d are on the same side.

#40) Is the figure shown above a rectangle?

1) c=d
2) c+d=180.

I can see that each statement alone is not sufficient, but when I take a look at both together my thought was that if you have two 90 degrees angles, then the other two angles must be 90 degrees and therefore both statements together are sufficient to make a conclusion. So I chose answer C) Both Statements together are sufficient...
However, the book shows the answer as E) Statements 1) and 2) together are not sufficient. Please help me understand.
