Question: (3)^x - 3^(x-1)

In the solution it says to factor out 3^x such that the result would be 3^x(1 - 3^-1).

Is this really correct? If you worked backwards from this, wouldn't that actually result in

(3)^x - (9)^(x-1)

3^x - 3^(x-1) = 3^13 * 2

(3^(x-1) )(3 - 1) = 3^13 * 2

note: 3^(x-1) * 3 = 3^x

(3^(x-1) )(2) = 3^13 * 2

(3^(x-1) ) = 3^13

x - 1 = 13
