The solution in the back of the book multiplied the answer by 4/4. Was then done to calculate the % easier. Please explain why this was done and should we take note of this for future problems?

They started with 9/25 and multiplied by 4/4 to get to a percentage, or a fraction over 100.
Since we must multiply 25 by 4 to get to 100, we can multiply both top and bottom by 4 to get to a fraction over 100 without changing the value.
