Machine A: (1 job)/(10 hours) = 1/10 job/hour

in the one hour that machine A works alone, it completes 1/10 of the job:

1 hour * 1/10 job/hour = 9/10 of the job

So, there is 9/10 of the job for A and B to work together on

It takes them 7 hours, so their rate is:

(9/10 job) / ( 7 hours) = 9/70 job per hour

B's rate would be the combined rate minus A's rate: 9/70 - 1/10 = 9/70 - 7/70 = 2/70 job/hour

B working alone: 1 job / (2/70 job/hr) = 35 hours
