I do not get how step iii) goes without a calculator. Could you explain the required steps?

By "divide as usual" we mean proceed as if you were doing the long division without decimals. To do this, you have to figure out how many times the divisor will divide in to the part of the dividend that you are examining.

For example 9535 dividing in to 15256 ... it divides in once (with 572 left over)
