Can you please work through problems 4 & 5 on the Multiple Variables Drill?

(1) y = 8 - 3x

(2) x + 2 = 2y

(2) y = (x + 2)/2

(1) and (2) (x + 2)/2 = 8 - 3x

x + 2 = 16 - 6x

7x = 14

x = 2

(1) y = 8 - (3)(2) = 2

2y - 3x = 12
y + 2x = 10

2y - 3x = 12
2y + 4x = 20

-7x = - 8
x = 8/7

y + 2(8/7) = 10
y + 16/7 = 10

y = 70/7 - 16/7 = 54/7
