Perhaps it started on a January day in Chicago when elementary school students greeted teacher Frankie Beecroft, recently named Veritas Prep’s Worldwide Instructor of the Year, with an enthusiastic “Good Morning, Teacher of the World!” But maybe it started well before that, in classrooms and at dinner tables in Missouri and Michigan, New Jersey and Norway as the students who would become the leaders of Veritas Prep were inspired by teachers. Whatever the genesis, our lifelong appreciation of teachers and our firm belief that they deserve recognition for their yeoman efforts has led us here.

Teachers deserve recognition. If you can read this, you have a teacher to thank. If you’re on this blog because of your aspirations in higher education, you have several teachers to thank. But while society goes out of its way to honor salespeople, entrepreneurs, athletes, and the Employee of the Month at any restaurant or retail store, teachers aren’t afforded those opportunities to take a bow. With that in mind, Veritas Prep announces its 40 Most Influential Teachers Under 40 initiative.

It’s commonplace in business, sports, and entertainment for organizations to highlight the potential and accomplishments of up-and-comers with “40 under 40″ articles and lists. Young teachers deserve the same recognition. Thousands of great, young teachers exist at the bottom of the seniority scale but often at the top of the energy scale. They’re in constant danger of pink slips or benefit cuts but they come to class each day with new ideas, new technologies, and newfound commitments to change students’ lives. They’re active in the school community, coaching teams and mentoring clubs and organizing activities. And they’re changing the world – just not necessarily in a way that Fortune or Forbes can individually honor them on a cover.

So let’s honor these teacher as best we can. Throughout the month of April, Veritas Prep is accepting nominations for the 40 Most Influential Teachers Under 40, and by the end of the school year we’ll announce our list and properly honor these vanguards who take it upon themselves to innovate, motivate, and elevate students to heights they didn’t know they had in them.

Do you have a teacher who opened your mind to new opportunities? Who helped you take an interest in a subject you previously hated? Who showed you the true meaning of doing your best and wouldn’t let you settle for anything less than that? Nominate your life-changing teacher and let’s take time out to recognize our most influential teachers.

It’s easy for all of us to get caught up in the stress of trying to get ahead at work or (if you’re reading this blog) trying to get into a top-ranked grad school, it’s healthy to stop for a few moments and realize just how good most of us have it. No matter where you are or what you’re doing right now, you probably have something in your life that makes you want to give thanks. Do yourself a favor and spend a few minutes to think about it before you enter a tryptophan-induced coma today.

We here at Veritas Prep HQ are thankful for the hundreds of amazing test prep instructors and admissions consultants that we have all over the world. While we don’t get to see most of them very often, we know that they care about helping our GMAT and SAT students, as well as our admissions consulting clients, as much as we do. We’re thankful that they’re there to get the job done, all day, every day.

Since launching our SAT course this summer, we have been hard at work building the most effective SAT preparation program available anywhere. Our goal is for both students and parents to have 100% confidence that they have done everything in their power to maximize their chances for SAT success. This week, The National Parenting Center recognized our dedication to SAT mastery by awarding Veritas Prep SAT 2400 with its Seal of Approval.

The National Parenting Center’s Seal of Approval program is an independent testing procedure conducted to judge a variety of products introduced and marketed to the parent/child consumer market. Evaluations are solicited from parents and their children on products and services from educational and entertainment to travel destinations.

This is what The National Parenting Center said after its panel of parent testers reviewed Veritas Prep SAT 2400:

If you have a child looking ahead to or already preparing for the SAT’s you know the pressure and anxiety it can bring to an entire household. All parents want to give their children that extra edge and Veritas Prep’s SAT program does just that. Parents felt confident when they learned that Veritas Prep was the company behind the program. The focus here is on test taking strategies. In reviewing both the online and accompanying manual, students found both to be enlightening and beneficial. Parents reported a marked rise in their children’s confidence level with each practice test that they took. The online videos are clear, concise and quite easy to digest. The 20 minute length is just right. There are many classes and tutors available to help prepare for this very important test but our testers felt that their children were in good hands with Veritas Prep.

We couldn’t be more proud of this award, and we hope to earn more like it as word spreads about the effectiveness of our SAT prep program!

We are excited to announce today, along with the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), that Veritas Prep has awarded American Heroes Scholarships to 50 IAVA Member Veterans.

We are excited to announce today, along with the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), that Veritas Prep has awarded American Heroes Scholarships to 50 IAVA Member Veterans. These test preparation and admissions consulting scholarships will allow U.S. Military Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan to pursue a wide variety of interests including business, environmental science, history, law, medicine, museum studies, nutrition, psychology and public administration.

Of the 50 scholarships awarded, 31 IAVA Member Veterans will receive a free Veritas Prep GMAT prep course, either in-person or online, and Veritas Prep’s full suite of 15 GMAT course books and extensive resources; 19 will receive six hours of graduate school admissions consulting with a Veritas Prep admissions expert related to the graduate program of their choice. In addition to the scholarships announced today, Veritas Prep is extending discounts to all qualified IAVA Member Veterans; offering 50 percent off Veritas Prep GMAT courses and 25 percent off admissions consulting services.

We’ve been impressed by the wide range of career interests demonstrated by the scholarship winners. While we’ve written before about business schools actively recruiting U.S. Military veterans, but the applications we received demonstrated just how much one can do after serving in the armed forces. While there certainly were a lot of applicants targeting MBA programs and law schools, we also heard from young men and women who want to become teachers, scientists, doctors, and civil servants. We are so pleased to be able to help so many of them prepare comeptitive applications to the nation’s top graduate schools!

This morning, as part of the announcement we released the following quote from our own Chad Troutwine:

“Everyone at Veritas Prep feels honored to award the inaugural American Heroes Scholarships to 50 deserving IAVA Member Veterans. It is our privilege to help these exceptional men and women as they begin their journey to earn the professional degree they need to advance in the military or excel in a civilian career,” said Chad Troutwine, co-founder and CEO of Veritas Prep. “The recipients exemplify the diverse career interests of today’s U.S. Military Veterans. Their inspiring stories remind us that military service and graduate education are a potent combination that can lead to success in many fields. We look forward to furthering our partnership with Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America to create life-changing opportunities for service members and veterans.”

We’re so excited to be involved with IAVA and its outstanding Member Veterans. We can’t wait to see where these terrific young men and women go from here!
As part of our new partnership, we will award 50 scholarships to qualified IAVA Member Veterans, 25 for GMAT prep courses and 25 for graduate school admissions consulting services offered by Veritas Prep. The partnership will help veterans interested in earning a graduate degree become more competitive candidates.

The GMAT Scholarship Program allows winners to take the Veritas Prep GMAT prep course of their choice, either in-person or online. Every winner will receive our full suite of 15 GMAT course books and extensive online resources. The Admissions Consulting Scholarship grants winners six hours of admissions consulting with a Veritas Prep admissions expert per scholarship.
