Because the Veritas program is longer than the one offered by Manhattan GMAT (MGMAT), Veritas instructors have the luxury of starting at an elementary level and progressing to advanced concepts, without skipping anything in between. Unlike Kaplan and the Princeton Review, both MGMAT and Veritas place a high premium on GMAT mastery when recruiting, hiring, and training GMAT instructors. However, MGMAT has never held a consistent position on how to define that bar. For the first several years of its existence, MGMAT required only a score in the 95th percentile. To its credit, the company followed Veritas Prep's lead and amended its hiring practices. Even today, the requirement is defined as either "750+" or "99th percentile overall". A score of 750 is no longer within the 99th percentile on the GMAT.

The Veritas GMAT requirement for instructors has never varied. Veritas requires evidence of test-taking excellence by insisting on 99th percentile scores on an official GMAT. The current average and median GMAT score of the Veritas instructors in cities where MGMAT offers live instruction is 780.

• "MGMAT's exams were developed by the company to maintain quality and consistency with our instructional approach." Veritas takes a different approach: it provides practice tests that are more consistent with what test-takers will actually see on the real GMAT. Veritas students find that approach offers more value. Furthermore, MGMAT students receive only six practice tests, while Veritas students receive fifteen practice tests.
• "All our instructors have previous teaching experience." All Veritas Prep instructors have previous teaching experience, too. However, Veritas also requires that instructors demonstrate their skill through exhaustive student evaluations. Experience alone is not enough; Veritas also requires excellence.
• "Our instructors make $100/hour." Veritas Prep has the highest paid instructors in the industry. Veritas Prep pays $100/hour plus bonus to all of its large market instructors, including every market in which MGMAT offers classes or tutoring. Not surprisingly, Veritas Prep employs the finest instructors anywhere.
• "MGMAT employs a full-time instructor and Product Developer to maintain and update our curriculum." Veritas has three instructors who work full-time developing and improving our curriculum and lesson materials. Veritas engages three additional contract-based instructors who create new practice problems and drills, devoting several hours/week to that task alone.
• "MGMAT is continuously honing and revising, coming out with an updated curriculum every calendar year." Veritas Prep updates its course materials four times per year. Furthermore, Veritas Prep was the only test preparation company in the last two decades to use officially-released GMAT® questions in its actual lesson materials with written permission from the Graduate Management Admissions Council. Veritas Prep paid a fee to use the materials and is not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, GMAC. Not surprisingly, MGMAT's course materials can be purchased for about $150, while Veritas Prep's materials sell for $450.
• "MGMAT maintains and operates full-time offices and centers... [while] Veritas exclusively rents conference rooms/hotel space/classrooms."
